Quranic word order of muslim
– The word muslim (submitter) occurs 42 times in the Quran.
– Not once is it the subject of a sentence.
– It’s always a predicate.
That’s odd.
In other words, the Quran never says “The Submitters do this” or “The Submitters are that”.
For a noun occurring 42 times, we expect it to be somewhat evenly distributed between subject and predicate. Not necessarily 50/50. But never a subject? Always a predicate? That’s not noun behavior.
That’s adjective behavior.
What does this mean?
It means the Quran uses the word “muslim” as an adjective, not a noun. “muslim” in the Quran is an attribute or quality: “submitting”. Not an identity, a person, or a group of people.
That’s interesting.
We on the other hand use it almost exclusively opposite to the Quran. We only mean it in terms of identity or group membership.
That’s unsettling.

Observations
- Syntactic role: Every occurrence appears in the predicate, never the subject. (This behavior is typical of verbal or adjectival phrases, not proper nouns.)
- 15% of occurrences are concentrated in Ch3, 13% in Ch27.
- Moderate distribution: 47% of all occurrences appear once in a surah.
- 75% of occurrences appear as final word of the ayah.
- Appears in both Meccan and Medinan ayat (pre and post-migration).
2:128 الْبَقَرَة
رَبَّنَا وَاجۡعَلۡنَا مُسۡلِمَيۡنِ لَـكَ وَمِنۡ ذُرِّيَّتِنَآ اُمَّةً مُّسۡلِمَةً لَّكَ وَاَرِنَا مَنَاسِكَنَا وَتُبۡ عَلَيۡنَاۚ اِنَّكَ اَنۡتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيۡمُ
Our Lord, and make us submitting to You and from our descendants a submitting nation [in submission] to You. And show us our rites and accept our repentance. Indeed, You are the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful.
2:132 الْبَقَرَة
وَوَصّٰى بِهَآ اِبۡرٰهٖمُ بَنِيۡهِ وَيَعۡقُوۡبُؕ يٰبَنِىَّ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ اصۡطَفٰى لَـكُمُ الدِّيۡنَ فَلَا تَمُوۡتُنَّ اِلَّا وَاَنۡتُمۡ مُّسۡلِمُوۡنَؕ
And Abraham instructed his sons [to do the same] and [so did] Jacob, [saying], “O my sons, indeed Allah has chosen for you this religion, so do not die except while you are submitting.”
2:133 الْبَقَرَة
اَمۡ كُنۡتُمۡ شُهَدَآءَ اِذۡ حَضَرَ يَعۡقُوۡبَ الۡمَوۡتُۙ اِذۡ قَالَ لِبَنِيۡهِ مَا تَعۡبُدُوۡنَ مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِىۡؕ قَالُوۡا نَعۡبُدُ اِلٰهَكَ وَاِلٰهَ اٰبَآٮِٕكَ اِبۡرٰهٖمَ وَاِسۡمٰعِيۡلَ وَاِسۡحٰقَ اِلٰهًا وَّاحِدًا ۖۚ وَّنَحۡنُ لَهٗ مُسۡلِمُوۡنَ
Or were you witnesses when death approached Jacob, when he said to his sons, “What will you worship after me?” They said, “We will worship your God and the God of your fathers, Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac – one God. And we are submitting to Him.”
2:136 الْبَقَرَة
قُوۡلُوۡٓا اٰمَنَّا بِاللّٰهِ وَمَآ اُنۡزِلَ اِلَيۡنَا وَمَآ اُنۡزِلَ اِلٰٓى اِبۡرٰهٖمَ وَاِسۡمٰعِيۡلَ وَاِسۡحٰقَ وَيَعۡقُوۡبَ وَالۡاَسۡبَاطِ وَمَآ اُوۡتِىَ مُوۡسَىٰ وَعِيۡسٰى وَمَآ اُوۡتِىَ النَّبِيُّوۡنَ مِنۡ رَّبِّهِمۡۚ لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيۡنَ اَحَدٍ مِّنۡهُمۡ وَنَحۡنُ لَهٗ مُسۡلِمُوۡنَ
Say, “We have believed in Allah and what has been revealed to us and what has been revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Descendants and what was given to Moses and Jesus and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are submitting to Him.”
3:52 آل عِمۡرٰن
فَلَمَّاۤ اَحَسَّ عِيۡسٰى مِنۡهُمُ الۡكُفۡرَ قَالَ مَنۡ اَنۡصَارِىۡۤ اِلَى اللّٰهِؕ قَالَ الۡحَـوَارِيُّوۡنَ نَحۡنُ اَنۡصَارُ اللّٰهِۚ اٰمَنَّا بِاللّٰهِۚ وَاشۡهَدۡ بِاَنَّا مُسۡلِمُوۡنَ
But when Jesus felt [persistence in] disbelief from them, he said, “Who are my supporters for [the cause of] Allah?” The disciples said, “We are supporters for Allah. We have believed in Allah and testify that we are submitting.
3:64 آل عِمۡرٰن
قُلۡ يٰۤاَهۡلَ الۡكِتٰبِ تَعَالَوۡا اِلٰى كَلِمَةٍ سَوَآءٍۢ بَيۡنَنَا وَبَيۡنَكُمۡ اَلَّا نَـعۡبُدَ اِلَّا اللّٰهَ وَلَا نُشۡرِكَ بِهٖ شَيْئًا وَّلَا يَتَّخِذَ بَعۡضُنَا بَعۡضًا اَرۡبَابًا مِّنۡ دُوۡنِ اللّٰهِؕ فَاِنۡ تَوَلَّوۡا فَقُوۡلُوۡا اشۡهَدُوۡا بِاَنَّا مُسۡلِمُوۡنَ
Say, “O People of the Scripture, come to a word that is equitable between us and you – that we will not worship except Allah and not associate anything with Him and not take one another as lords instead of Allah.” But if they turn away, then say, “Bear witness that we are submitting.”
3:67
مَا كَانَ اِبۡرٰهِيۡمُ يَهُوۡدِيًّا وَّلَا نَصۡرَانِيًّا وَّلٰكِنۡ كَانَ حَنِيۡفًا مُّسۡلِمًا وَّمَا كَانَ مِنَ الۡمُشۡرِكِيۡنَ
Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian, but he was one inclining toward truth, submitting. And he was not of the polytheists.
3:80 آل عِمۡرٰن
وَلَا يَاۡمُرَكُمۡ اَنۡ تَتَّخِذُوۡا الۡمَلٰٓٮِٕكَةَ وَالنَّبِيّٖنَ اَرۡبَابًاؕ اَيَاۡمُرُكُمۡ بِالۡكُفۡرِ بَعۡدَ اِذۡ اَنۡتُمۡ مُّسۡلِمُوۡنَ
Nor could he order you to take the angels and prophets as lords. Would he order you to disbelief after you had been submitting?
3:84 آل عِمۡرٰن
قُلۡ اٰمَنَّا بِاللّٰهِ وَمَاۤ اُنۡزِلَ عَلَيۡنَا وَمَاۤ اُنۡزِلَ عَلٰٓى اِبۡرٰهِيۡمَ وَاِسۡمٰعِيۡلَ وَاِسۡحٰقَ وَيَعۡقُوۡبَ وَالۡاَسۡبَاطِ وَمَاۤ اُوۡتِىَ مُوۡسَىٰ وَعِيۡسٰى وَالنَّبِيُّوۡنَ مِنۡ رَّبِّهِمۡ لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيۡنَ اَحَدٍ مِّنۡهُمۡ وَنَحۡنُ لَهٗ مُسۡلِمُوۡنَ
Say, “We have believed in Allah and in what was revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Descendants, and in what was given to Moses and Jesus and to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are submitting to Him.”
3:102 آل عِمۡرٰن
يٰۤاَيُّهَا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا اتَّقُوۡا اللّٰهَ حَقَّ تُقٰتِهٖ وَلَا تَمُوۡتُنَّ اِلَّا وَاَنۡتُمۡ مُّسۡلِمُوۡنَ
O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except while submitting.
5:111 الْمَآئِدَة
وَاِذۡ اَوۡحَيۡتُ اِلَى الۡحَـوَارِيّٖنَ اَنۡ اٰمِنُوۡا بِىۡ وَبِرَسُوۡلِىۡۚ قَالُوۡۤا اٰمَنَّا وَاشۡهَدۡ بِاَنَّـنَا مُسۡلِمُوۡنَ
And [remember] when I inspired to the disciples, “Believe in Me and in My messenger Jesus.” They said, “We have believed, so bear witness that indeed we are submitting.”
6:163 الْأَنْعَام
لَا شَرِيۡكَ لَهٗۚ وَبِذٰلِكَ اُمِرۡتُ وَاَنَا اَوَّلُ الۡمُسۡلِمِيۡنَ
He has no partner, and this I am commanded, and I am the first to submit.
7:126 الْأَعْرَاف
وَمَا تَـنۡقِمُ مِنَّاۤ اِلَّاۤ اَنۡ اٰمَنَّا بِاٰيٰتِ رَبِّنَا لَمَّا جَآءَتۡنَاؕ رَبَّنَاۤ اَفۡرِغۡ عَلَيۡنَا صَبۡرًا وَّتَوَفَّنَا مُسۡلِمِيۡنَ
And you do not resent us except because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, pour upon us patience and let us die as submitting.”
10:84 يُوْنـُس
وَقَالَ مُوۡسٰى يٰقَوۡمِ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ اٰمَنۡتُمۡ بِاللّٰهِ فَعَلَيۡهِ تَوَكَّلُوۡاۤ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ مُّسۡلِمِيۡنَ
And Moses said, “O my people, if you have believed in Allah, then rely upon Him, if you should be submitting.”
10:72 يُوْنـُس
فَاِنۡ تَوَلَّـيۡتُمۡ فَمَا سَاَلۡـتُكُمۡ مِّنۡ اَجۡرٍؕ اِنۡ اَجۡرِىَ اِلَّا عَلَى اللّٰهِۙ وَاُمِرۡتُ اَنۡ اَكُوۡنَ مِنَ الۡمُسۡلِمِيۡنَ
And if you turn away [from my advice] then no payment have I asked of you. My reward is only from Allah, and I have been commanded to be of the the submitting.”
10:90 يُوْنـُس
وَجٰوَزۡنَا بِبَنِىۡۤ اِسۡرآءِيۡلَ الۡبَحۡرَ فَاَتۡبـَعَهُمۡ فِرۡعَوۡنُ وَجُنُوۡدُهٗ بَغۡيًا وَّعَدۡوًاؕ حَتّٰۤى اِذَاۤ اَدۡرَكَهُ الۡغَرَقُۙ قَالَ اٰمَنۡتُ اَنَّهٗ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا الَّذِىۡۤ اٰمَنَتۡ بِهٖ بَنُوۡۤا اِسۡرآءِيۡلَ وَاَنَا مِنَ الۡمُسۡلِمِيۡنَ
And We took the Children of Israel across the sea, and Pharaoh and his soldiers pursued them in tyranny and enmity until, when drowning overtook him, he said, “I believe that there is no deity except that in whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am of the submitting.”
11:14 هُوْد
فَاِلَّمۡ يَسۡتَجِيۡبُوۡا لَـكُمۡ فَاعۡلَمُوۡۤا اَنَّمَاۤ اُنۡزِلَ بِعِلۡمِ اللّٰهِ وَاَنۡ لَّاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَۚ فَهَلۡ اَنۡتُمۡ مُّسۡلِمُوۡنَ
And if they do not respond to you – then know that the Qur’an was revealed with the knowledge of Allah and that there is no deity except Him. Then, would you [not] be submitting?
12:101 يُوْسُف
رَبِّ قَدۡ اٰتَيۡتَنِىۡ مِنَ الۡمُلۡكِ وَعَلَّمۡتَنِىۡ مِنۡ تَاۡوِيۡلِ الۡاَحَادِيۡثِۚ فَاطِرَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِ اَنۡتَ وَلِىّٖ فِىۡ الدُّنۡيَا وَالۡاٰخِرَةِؕ تَوَفَّنِىۡ مُسۡلِمًا وَّاَلۡحِقۡنِىۡ بِالصّٰلِحِيۡنَ
My Lord, You have given me [something] of sovereignty and taught me of the interpretation of dreams. Creator of the heavens and earth, You are my protector in this world and in the Hereafter. Cause me to die submitting and join me with the righteous.”
15:2 الْحِجْر
رُّبَمَا يَوَدُّ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا لَوۡ كَانُوۡا مُسۡلِمِيۡنَ
Perhaps those who disbelieve will wish that they had been submitting.
16:89 النَّحْل
وَيَوۡمَ نَـبۡعَثُ فِىۡ كُلِّ اُمَّةٍ شَهِيۡدًا عَلَيۡهِمۡ مِّنۡ اَنۡفُسِهِمۡ وَجِئۡنَا بِكَ شَهِيۡدًا عَلٰى هٰٓؤُلَۤاءِؕ وَنَزَّلۡنَا عَلَيۡكَ الۡـكِتٰبَ تِبۡيَانًا لِّـكُلِّ شَىۡءٍ وَّهُدًى وَّرَحۡمَةً وَّبُشۡرٰى لِلۡمُسۡلِمِيۡنَ
And [mention] the Day when We will resurrect among every nation a witness over them from themselves. And We will bring you, [O Muhammad], as a witness over your nation. And We have sent down to you the Book as clarification for all things and as guidance and mercy and good tidings for the submitting.
16:102 النَّحْل
قُلۡ نَزَّلَهٗ رُوۡحُ الۡقُدُسِ مِنۡ رَّبِّكَ بِالۡحَـقِّ لِيُثَبِّتَ الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَهُدًى وَّبُشۡرٰى لِلۡمُسۡلِمِيۡنَ
Say, [O Muhammad], “The Pure Spirit has brought it down from your Lord in truth to make firm those who believe and as guidance and good tidings to the submitting.”
21:108 الْأَنْبِيَآء
قُلۡ اِنَّمَا يُوۡحٰىۤ اِلَىَّ اَنَّمَاۤ اِلٰهُكُمۡ اِلٰـهٌ وَّاحِدٌ ۚ فَهَلۡ اَنۡـتُمۡ مُّسۡلِمُوۡنَ
Say, “It is only revealed to me that your god is but one God; so will you be submitting?”
22:78 الْحَجّ
وَجَاهِدُوۡا فِىۡ اللّٰهِ حَقَّ جِهَادِهٖؕ هُوَ اجۡتَبٰٮكُمۡ وَمَا جَعَلَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ فِىۡ الدِّيۡنِ مِنۡ حَرَجٍؕ مِلَّةَ اَبِيۡكُمۡ اِبۡرٰهِيۡمَؕ هُوَ سَمّٰٮكُمُ الۡمُسۡلِمِيۡنَ ۙ مِنۡ قَبۡلُ وَفِىۡ هٰذَا لِيَكُوۡنَ الرَّسُوۡلُ شَهِيۡدًا عَلَيۡكُمۡ وَتَكُوۡنُوۡا شُهَدَآءَ عَلَى النَّاسِۖۚ فَاَقِيۡمُوۡا الصَّلٰوةَ وَاٰتُوۡا الزَّكٰوةَ وَاعۡتَصِمُوۡا بِاللّٰهِؕ هُوَ مَوۡلٰٮكُمۡۚ فَنِعۡمَ الۡمَوۡلٰى وَنِعۡمَ النَّصِيۡرُ
And strive for Allah with the striving due to Him. He has chosen you and has not placed upon you in the religion any difficulty. [It is] the religion of your father, Abraham. He called you submitting before and in this, so that the Messenger may be a witness over you and you may be witnesses over the people. So establish prayer and give zakah and hold fast to Allah. He is your protector; and excellent is the protector, and excellent is the helper.
27:31 النَّمْل
اَلَّا تَعۡلُوۡا عَلَىَّ وَاۡتُوۡنِىۡ مُسۡلِمِيۡنَ
Be not haughty with me but come to me submitting.’ “
27:38 النَّمْل
قَالَ يٰۤاَيُّهَا الۡمَلَؤُا اَيُّكُمۡ يَاۡتِيۡنِىۡ بِعَرۡشِهَا قَبۡلَ اَنۡ يَّاۡتُوۡنِىۡ مُسۡلِمِيۡنَ
[Solomon] said, “O assembly [of jinn], which of you will bring me her throne before they come to me submitting?”
27:42 النَّمْل
فَلَمَّا جَآءَتۡ قِيۡلَ اَهٰكَذَا عَرۡشُكِؕ قَالَتۡ كَاَنَّهٗ هُوَۚ وَاُوۡتِيۡنَا الۡعِلۡمَ مِنۡ قَبۡلِهَا وَكُنَّا مُسۡلِمِيۡنَ
So when she arrived, it was said [to her], “Is your throne like this?” She said, “[It is] as though it was it.” [Solomon said], “And we were given knowledge before her, and we have been submitting.
27:81 النَّمْل
وَمَاۤ اَنۡتَ بِهٰدِىۡ الۡعُمۡىِ عَنۡ ضَلٰلَتِهِمۡؕ اِنۡ تُسۡمِعُ اِلَّا مَنۡ يُّؤۡمِنُ بِاٰيٰتِنَا فَهُمۡ مُّسۡلِمُوۡنَ
27:91 النَّمْل
اِنَّمَاۤ اُمِرۡتُ اَنۡ اَعۡبُدَ رَبَّ هٰذِهِ الۡبَلۡدَةِ الَّذِىۡ حَرَّمَهَا وَلَهٗ كُلُّ شَىۡءٍ وَّاُمِرۡتُ اَنۡ اَكُوۡنَ مِنَ الۡمُسۡلِمِيۡنَۙ
[Say, O Muhammad], “I have only been commanded to worship the Lord of this land, who made it sacred and to whom [belongs] all things. And I am commanded to be of the submitting.”
And you cannot guide the blind away from their error. You will only make hear those who believe in Our verses so they are submitting.
28:53 الْقَصَص
وَاِذَا يُتۡلٰى عَلَيۡهِمۡ قَالُوۡۤا اٰمَنَّا بِهٖۤ اِنَّهُ الۡحَـقُّ مِنۡ رَّبِّنَاۤ اِنَّا كُنَّا مِنۡ قَبۡلِهٖ مُسۡلِمِيۡنَ
And when it is recited to them, they say, “We have believed in it; indeed, it is the truth from our Lord. Indeed we were, [even] before it, submitting.”
29:46 الْعَنْکَبُوْت
وَلَا تُجَادِلُوۡٓا اَهۡلَ الۡكِتٰبِ اِلَّا بِالَّتِىۡ هِىَ اَحۡسَنُ ۖ اِلَّا الَّذِيۡنَ ظَلَمُوۡا مِنۡهُمۡ وَقُوۡلُوۡٓا اٰمَنَّا بِالَّذِىۡۤ اُنۡزِلَ اِلَيۡنَا وَاُنۡزِلَ اِلَيۡكُمۡ وَاِلٰهُـنَا وَاِلٰهُكُمۡ وَاحِدٌ وَّنَحۡنُ لَهٗ مُسۡلِمُوۡنَ
And do not argue with the People of the Scripture except in a way that is best, except for those who commit injustice among them, and say, “We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you. And our God and your God is one; and we are submitting to Him.”
30:53 الرُّوْم
وَمَاۤ اَنۡتَ بِهٰدِ الۡعُمۡىِ عَنۡ ضَلٰلَتِهِمۡؕ اِنۡ تُسۡمِعُ اِلَّا مَنۡ يُّؤۡمِنُ بِاٰيٰتِنَا فَهُمۡ مُّسۡلِمُوۡنَ
And you cannot guide the blind away from their error. You will only make hear those who believe in Our verses so they are submitting.
33:35 الْأَحْزَاب
اِنَّ الۡمُسۡلِمِيۡنَ وَالۡمُسۡلِمٰتِ وَالۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ وَالۡمُؤۡمِنٰتِ وَالۡقٰنِتِيۡنَ وَالۡقٰنِتٰتِ وَالصّٰدِقِيۡنَ وَالصّٰدِقٰتِ وَالصّٰبِرِيۡنَ وَالصّٰبِرٰتِ وَالۡخٰشِعِيۡنَ وَالۡخٰشِعٰتِ وَالۡمُتَصَدِّقِيۡنَ وَالۡمُتَصَدِّقٰتِ وَالصّآٮِٕمِيۡنَ وَالصّٰٓٮِٕمٰتِ وَالۡحٰفِظِيۡنَ فُرُوۡجَهُمۡ وَالۡحٰـفِظٰتِ وَالذّٰكِرِيۡنَ اللّٰهَ كَثِيۡرًا وَّالذّٰكِرٰتِۙ اَعَدَّ اللّٰهُ لَهُمۡ مَّغۡفِرَةً وَّاَجۡرًا عَظِيۡمًا
Indeed, the submitting men and submitting women, the believing men and believing women, the obedient men and obedient women, the truthful men and truthful women, the patient men and patient women, the humble men and humble women, the charitable men and charitable women, the fasting men and fasting women, the men who guard their private parts and the women who do so, and the men who remember Allah often and the women who do so – for them Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great reward.
39:12 الزُّمَر
وَاُمِرۡتُ لِاَنۡ اَكُوۡنَ اَوَّلَ الۡمُسۡلِمِيۡنَ
And I have been commanded to be the first of the submitting.”
41:33 فُصِّلَت
وَمَنۡ اَحۡسَنُ قَوۡلاً مِّمَّنۡ دَعَاۤ اِلَى اللّٰهِ وَعَمِلَ صَلِحًا وَّقَالَ اِنَّنِىۡ مِنَ الۡمُسۡلِمِيۡنَ
And who is better in speech than one who invites to Allah and does righteousness and says, “Indeed, I am of the submitting.”
43:69 الزُّخْرُف
اَلَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا بِاٰيٰتِنَا وَكَانُوۡا مُسۡلِمِيۡنَۚ
[You] who believed in Our verses and were submitting.
46:15 الْأَحْقَاف
وَوَصَّيۡنَا الۡاِنۡسَانَ بِوَالِدَيۡهِ اِحۡسٰنًاؕ حَمَلَتۡهُ اُمُّهٗ كُرۡهًا وَّوَضَعَتۡهُ كُرۡهًاؕ وَّحَمۡلُهٗ وَفِصٰلُهٗ ثَلٰثُوۡنَ شَهۡرًاؕ حَتّٰٓى اِذَا بَلَغَ اَشُدَّهٗ وَبَلَغَ اَرۡبَعِيۡنَ سَنَةً ۙ قَالَ رَبِّ اَوۡزِعۡنِىۡۤ اَنۡ اَشۡكُرَ نِعۡمَتَكَ الَّتِىۡۤ اَنۡعَمۡتَ عَلَىَّ وَعَلٰى وَالِدَىَّ وَاَنۡ اَعۡمَلَ صَالِحًا تَرۡضٰٮهُ وَاَصۡلِحۡ لِىۡ فِىۡ ذُرِّيَّتِىۡ ؕۚ اِنِّىۡ تُبۡتُ اِلَيۡكَ وَاِنِّىۡ مِنَ الۡمُسۡلِمِيۡنَ
And We have enjoined upon man, to his parents, good treatment. His mother carried him with hardship and gave birth to him with hardship, and his gestation and weaning [period] is thirty months. [He grows] until, when he reaches maturity and reaches [the age of] forty years, he says, “My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to work righteousness of which You will approve and make righteous for me my offspring. Indeed, I have repented to You, and indeed, I am of the submitting.”
51:36 الذّٰرِيٰت
فَمَا وَجَدۡنَا فِيۡهَا غَيۡرَ بَيۡتٍ مِّنَ الۡمُسۡلِمِيۡنَۚ
And We found not within them other than a [single] house of the submitting.
66:5 التَّحْرِيْم
عَسٰى رَبُّهٗۤ اِنۡ طَلَّقَكُنَّ اَنۡ يُّبۡدِلَهٗۤ اَزۡوَاجًا خَيۡرًا مِّنۡكُنَّ مُسۡلِمٰتٍ مُّؤۡمِنٰتٍ قٰنِتٰتٍ تٰٓٮِٕبٰتٍ عٰبِدٰتٍ سٰٓٮِٕحٰتٍ ثَيِّبٰتٍ وَّاَبۡكَارًا
Perhaps his Lord, if he divorced you [all], would substitute for him wives better than you – submitting, believing, devoutly obedient, repentant, worshiping, and traveling – [ones] previously married and virgins.
68:35 الْقَلَم
اَفَنَجۡعَلُ الۡمُسۡلِمِيۡنَ كَالۡمُجۡرِمِيۡنَؕ
Then will We treat the submitting like the criminals?
الجنّ 72:14
وَّاَنَّا مِنَّا الۡمُسۡلِمُوۡنَ وَمِنَّا الۡقٰسِطُوۡنَؕ فَمَنۡ اَسۡلَمَ فَاُولٰٓٮِٕكَ تَحَرَّوۡا رَشَدًا
And among us are submitting, and among us are the unjust. And whoever has submitted – those have sought out the right course.
